Western Montana Fair Livestock Auctioneer: Future Rap Artist?
The annual 4H/FFA Auction is happening this Saturday morning @ 8 am at the Western Montana Fair.
I have had the privilege of attending this over the last couple of years, and I have to say, it is pretty cool to see. Kids from all over Western Montana show up to auction off the critters they have spent all year raising. It is cool to see the kids strut with pride as they lead their award-winning pig into the arena.
Tons of hard work goes into showing your prized livestock. But it pays off in the end when many of the 4H students receive a hefty price for their livestock which they can use towards next year's pig or even enough to pay for a semester of college.
The only thing harder than raising livestock would be being a livestock auctioneer. As someone who talks for a living, I can tell you that calling an auction is not an easy task. There is just something about the classic auctioneer calling. The urgentness and thrill that you get when you bid while a man on the mic talks 300 words a minute.
Here is a thought... If an auctioneer ever decided to change careers, what could they do? They could call play-by-play at a horse racing track. They could be customer service for a software company. Or they could become the NEXT BIG RAP SENSATION!
As you can see in the following video. All you need is a mic and a beat.
If you want to see what the fair is truly all about, plan on being at the Western Montana Fairgrounds, on August 10th at 8 am.
