Missoula Archery Club Hunts for New Home After Lease Loss
Well, this isn’t exactly the bullseye Five Valleys Archery Club was aiming for.
After more than 40 years giving archers in Missoula and Bitterroot Valley a space to practice their shot, Five Valleys Archery Club has just lost the lease on its long-running practice range in the Miller Creek area. And now they’re in a pickle, with no home base to fling arrows in the air.
For people who’ve never been to the club, it’s about more than shooting. It’s where generations of people, from children to adults, go for 3D shoots, summer leagues and some good old-fashioned target practice. It had it all, targets from 10 to 100 yards, a 20-target walking course, and the type of community that turns strangers into friends.
But the club is now scrambling to find a new home before the next archery season opens. And they need your help.
What’s Next for the Club?
The club’s volunteers who make up its board now are scouring hard for a new parcel of land on which they can rebuild the range. They’re optimistic, but let’s be real, relocating an entire archery range isn’t an overnight fix.
How You Can Help
Have a location in mind for where the club can expand its previous range? So do you feel motivated to get involved and help make it happen? This is the time to step up. According to FVAC, they would require at least 5 acres just to build a solid range. 10 acres would be ideal. Visit their Facebook page or website to get involved.
Missoula has always been a community that rallies together in moments like these. And I've personally been a fan of this group for years. They have given my family and me some really great memories.
Let’s help Five Valleys Archery Club find a new home so we all can keep slinging arrows for years to come.
