An Iconic Food Delivery Service Announces It is Leaving Montana
Everyone has some core childhood memories that will never fade. One of those memories struck me this morning when I heard the news of an iconic food delivery service packing up and leaving the Treasure State.
Growing up, my mother was always a huge fan of a bargain. She also took pride in having a properly stocked freezer. Whether it be a hefty supply of wild game, frozen veggies, or her secret stash of fudge bars she buried at the bottom of the chest freezer. Needless to say, she got really excited when an iconic yellow delivery truck would pull up outside the house.
I would get excited too. I would do everything I could to convince my mother to order a year's supply of "push-pops." (You know? The ice cream that you had to push out of a cardboard tube that looked like a toilet paper roll?)
I clearly remember a day when she refused, so I took matters into my own hands to arrange a heist. When the delivery driver was distracted, I snuck around the side of the truck and swiped a couple of "push-pops." Only to get busted by both the driver and my mom shortly after. Apparently, I have a really bad poker face.
If you haven't figured out what I'm talking about yet, I am referring to the frozen food delivery service known as Schwan's.
According to MTN News
You can say so long to the Schwan's man.
The iconic food delivery company and its yellow trucks are leaving Montana and most of the western United States.
Schwan's, which sold in 2018 and was rebranded last year under the name Yelloh, is scaling back its delivery to 18 states, mostly on the East Coast.
Yelloh claims that rising costs and COVID are the leading factors in their decision to downsize their operation. I just pray it isn't from all the profit they lost from little troublemakers like me trying to steal ice cream when the delivery guy was not looking.
