The House Appropriations Committee is considering a bill aimed at nullifying the federal Endangered Species Act, in Montana. It would punish any person or agency who tries to comply with the act. Bill sponsor representative Krayton Kerns, of Laurel, says a loss of federal funding isn't a bad thing.

Representatives from Fish, Wildlife and Parks, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Montana Contractor's Association say, if the bill passes, the state will lose federal funding for highways, waste-water, and Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
