Once again, a University of Montana Grizzly defensive standout had a great game and received some nice recognition Monday.

Josh Sandry, a sophomore safety from Bigfork, is the Big Sky Conference/ROOT Sports defensive player of the week. Josh was stellar on defense in Montana's 41-17 homecoming victory over North Dakota. He had a 74-yard interception return (so close, but couldn't quite get in the end zone for a 'pick-six'). He was also credited with seven tackles, a half-sack, a half tackle-for-loss, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.

Great work, Josh! He's been a little dinged up here and there, so I'm sure he is welcoming Montana's bye week, just like some teammates. Of course, when you're on a nice win streak, maybe you'd rather not have a bye! :-)

The Griz travel to Odgen to play Weber State October 28. Scott Gurnsey and I wlll be on the air at noon with the Statewide Tailgate Show. The game kicks off at 2:00 on KGVO AM 1290 and FM 98.3, Missoula, and in Hamilton on 1240 KLYQ.
