A 51-year-old woman who said she was acting in self-defense when she stabbed a Butte man at a southwestern Montana campground has been convicted of accountability to deliberate homicide.

The Montana Standard reports jurors deliberated for about four hours yesterday before finding Sandra Cantrell guilty in the August 2014 death of Mark Robert Mullen at a campground near Wise River.

Cantrell testified Thursday that she stabbed Mullen after he made a sexual advance toward her. Her common-law partner Christopher Lee Stiles pleaded guilty to deliberate homicide in March and is serving a 50-year prison sentence. He testified Wednesday that he hit Mullen with a stick after Cantrell stabbed him.

Mullen's body was dragged into the weeds near the campsite. Stiles and Cantrell were arrested in Mullen's motorhome in Missoula.
