A few inches of wet snow has led to a winter weather advisory for western Montana.

National Weather Service meteorologist Jen Kitzmiller said the snow melted and then froze on the roadways, leading to slick roads for the Monday morning commute.

She said the snowfall is over for the valley areas, however, there will be more snow in the mountains.

Towards the end of the week into the coming weekend, more wet weather is on the way. Kitzmiller said the moisture will be primarily rain in the valleys, however, there will be a mix of rain and snow in the mountains which could lead to advanced avalanche danger for the weekend.

The winter weather advisory is in effect until 9 a. m.
