The National Weather Service has declared a winter storm warning until 11 a.m. on Friday, February 21.

Intern Meteorologist Genki Kino said a number of heavy snow bands have been moving across the Missoula and Bitterroot valleys overnight.

"So far here at the airport we've received almost six inches of fresh snow," Kino said. "We are expecting these snow bands to continue at least through this morning, then taper off by about noon and become more showery,"

Driving condition around western Montana are very hazardous, with limited visibility, and during periods of heavy snow, there may be no visibility. Roads are snow covered, snow-packed and icy throughout the area.
