Winningest High School Wrestling Coach Hired at Flathead
KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — Flathead High School in Kalispell has announced the hiring of Scot Davis, the winningest coach in U.S. high school wrestling history.
The Flathead Beacon reports Davis of Owatonna, Minn., is a two-time national coach of the year. Wrestling USA Magazine says he's the all-time wins leader in high school wrestling with a 984-149-4 career record in dual matches.
Davis replaces Matt Owen, who resigned as Flathead's coach after four years.
Flathead High has won seven Class AA state championships as a team, including five straight from 2006-10.
Davis has almost 40 years of coaching experience, but says he's so excited about the Flathead job that he feels like a rookie coach again.
