DILLON, Mont. (AP) — Montana Western men's basketball coach Steve Keller has announced that 6-foot-7 forward Kurtis Parsons of Great Falls is transferring to Western.

Parsons played last season at Rocky Mountain College and will redshirt during the 2012-13 season.

Keller says Parsons has good size and athleticism and can shoot from 3-point range and rebound. He says Parsons will use his redshirt season to improve his game.

Parsons averaged five points and 2.3 rebounds per game in 27 games during his freshman year at Rocky.

As a senior at C.M. Russell High in Great Falls, Parsons averaged 12.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

He averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds as a junior in helping the Rustlers win the Class AA state championship.
