The mother of a 14-year-old rape victim says the pending release of the girl's assailant after just 30 days in a Montana prison has denied her daughter vindication.

Fifty-four-year-old former teacher Stacey Rambold is to be released from Montana State Prison on Thursday after completing a one-month sentence for the 2007 rape of Cherice Moralez.

The victim's mother, Auliea Hanlon, told The Associated Press that Rambold is "still skating" clear of justice six years after raping her daughter while she was one of his students at Billings Senior High School.

Prosecutors have appealed the prison sentence Rambold received last month from District Judge G. Todd Baugh, whose comments pinned some responsibility for the rape to Moralez.

The teenager committed suicide in 2010 before Rambold went to trial.
