GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — Six veterans are being laid to rest Friday after their unclaimed remains were discovered at a Great Falls funeral home.

The Great Falls Tribune reports (http://gftrib.com/1STkiqg) the veterans will be interred at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison in Helena as part of a national effort to locate veterans who have died and are eligible for a military funeral.

The Missing in America Project has located 145 remains of veterans nationwide since it started in 2006.

Montana coordinator Marty Malone says volunteer Rick English discovered 12 unclaimed veterans' remains at Croxford's Funeral Home and found the families of nine of them.

Three families elected to be part of the Friday ceremony alongside the three veterans whose relatives couldn't be located.
