At what point does the Missoula Police Department become involved in University of Montana criminal matters? The subject came up during a public meeting Tuesday evening at the Holiday Inn Parkside as UM President Royce Engstrom gave an update on the investigaton into sexual assaults involving UM students. I spoke with Assistant Missoula Police Chief Mike Brady on Wednesday morning about the subject. That interview is attached.

Brady says the victim must request help from the Missoula Police Department, and there are also privacy issues involved that the University must consider according to federal law. The investigations continue, and the methods and techniques will be shared throughout the State University System.
