Montana Attorney General Tim Fox will be in Missoula tomorrow, September 10, to announce the recipients of grant money intended to help keep the public safe from unneeded pharmaceutical drugs.

"We are excited to announce the recipients of the Montana Pharmacy Safe Medication Disposal Grants," said Montana Department of Justice Public Information Officer Anastasia Burton. These are grants that are going to be awarded in the amount of 2,000 dollars to 13 pharmacies across Montana who are going to either continue or establish pharmacy drop boxes."

Burton says the drop boxes will help collect data and feedback from the public on the effectiveness of drop-box disposal. In the future, there are plans to bring the drop-boxes to more pharmacies across the state.

"It's really important for people to have an easy way to dispose of their prescription drugs and pharmacies are a perfect place for folks to do that," Burton said. It will be really convenient for them and it will be good for the pharmacies too, in the sense that they want to be good stewards of those medications."

Two of the recipients will be Missoula pharmacies, but the names will remain secret until after the announcement at the University of Montana.
