Missoula County authorities are asking for the public's help in tracking down two men suspected of stealing a woman's purse and using her credit cards at a local electronics store.

"A few weeks ago, on September 12, a woman reported to deputies that she was down taking care of her horses on 93 South and Gardner," Missoula County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone said. "She had some horses boarded there that she was taking care of, and she observed a vehicle pulled over on the side of the road."

Shortly after noticing the vehicle, the women said two men approached her.

"She was approached by two guys that said that they were in a bit of a bind and needed to borrow a gas can to go get gas for their vehicle, or else they would run out," Pavalone said. "She obliged and gave them a gas can. They took off, came back in the vehicle. So they came back, they gave her back her gas can, and sometime during this transaction, they went to her vehicle and stole her purse out of it. She later learned that there were credit cards stolen."

Pavalone said they also gave her a Dremel tool they said was worth approximately $200 and also tried to sell her a saddle.

The Missoula County Sheriff's office believes the men took and used the woman's credit card to buy $455 worth of goods at Best Buy stores in Missoula and Spokane.

The woman described one male as in his mid 30’s with red hair and facial hair. The second male had red scruffy hair, his right arm bandaged, and tattoos on his lower left arm. The men were possibly driving a tan 2005 or 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, unknown license plate.

Anyone with information about this incident is advised to call Five Valley Crimestoppers at 721-4444.
