Two Men Charged With Breaking Into Woman’s Home and Beating Her and Boyfriend – DOCUMENTS

Two men, 28 year-old Joel Cahoon and 25 year-old Johnny Richardson were charged in Missoula Justice Court on Monday with breaking into Cahoon's former girlfriend's home on Saturday night and beating her and her new boyfriend in front of a minor child. 

According to court documents, Cahoon and Richardson were charged with felony aggravated burglary, partner or family member assault, attempted assault and criminal mischief.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Selene Koepke asked Judge Karen Orzech for a bail amount of $50,000 for both Cahoon and Richardson.

"The behavior was particularly egregious," Koepke said. "The defendant and a co-defendant broke into an ex-girlfriend's house and they both assaulted the new boyfriend and the ex-girlfriend. Mr. Cahoon then broke the victim's phone after she tried to call 9-1-1, they punched holes in the walls and trashed the place. Then, both defendants tried to leave the scene with a six year-old girl. Both defendants were heavily intoxicated at the time. In addition to standard precautions if they are release, we're also asking for no unsupervised contact with the minor child."

Judge Karen Orzech set bail for Cahoon at $5,000 and sternly warned Cahoon to have absolutely no contact with the female victim or the minor child.

"You're going to stay away from Jane Doe," Judge Orzech said. "If you can't abide by these conditions, if I hear that you're anywhere near her, boom, you're going to be arrested and your bail will be $50,000, and you can just stay in jail until your trial. I am telling you now, I am the one in charge here, and you'd better be listening to me, because if you're not, we've got a place for you, it's called the Missoula County Jail."

Cahoon agreed to all the judge's conditions, and he was released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Richardson 's bond was set at $10,000, due to being charged with his third DUI, and he was released on Monday afternoon after posting bond.
