Two public lectures are planned for Monday, September 24, at the University of Montana. Economist Lawrence Summers will join former Senator Max Baucus and UM President Seth Bodnar on stage at the Montana Theater of the Radio/Television Center. They will have a "fireside chat" titled "United States in a New Global Order." The presentation will be livestreamed, courtesy of MCAT. Summers served as director of the White House National Economic Council and was the 71st Secretary of the U.S. Treasury. The chat will start at 7:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, at the Gallagher Business Building Room 123 at 4 p.m. Monday, Elisa New, the creator of the PBS series "Poetry in America," will present "Dunking the Sonnet ... and Other Literary Fast Breaks: How Poetry is Bringing Verses to the Small Screen." New is the author of several books. Bodnar said, "Bringing two speakers of this caliber to campus on the same day is a privilege and an honor." Both events are free and open to the public, according to Paula Short, UM Director of Communications.
