Many Glacier and Chief Mountain roads are open to vehicle traffic at Glacier National Park following their winter closures.

The Daily Inter Lake reports the park made the announcement Friday.

Avalanche danger has temporarily halted snow plows on Going-to-the-Sun Road, which remains open only to hikers and bikers.

Park officials are encouraging visitors to be cautious in light of the avalanche risk.

They also advise people to bring bear spray as the animals emerge from their winter dens.
