MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — The secretary of state's office says a dozen small Montana counties will count primary ballots by hand Tuesday night.

But Meagher County Clerk and Recorder Dayna Ogle says that doesn't mean their results will be late. She tells the Missoulian that over the past few years, the county has been turning in results to the state by 10 p.m. on election night — two hours after the polls close.

The secretary of state's office says in addition to Meagher county, ballots will be counted by hand in Carter, Daniels, Garfield, Golden Valley, Judith Basin, McCone, Powder River, Prairie, Sweet Grass, Treasure and Wheatland counties.
