DETACHMENT 1, BRAVO COMPANY OF THE
189TH AVIATION SUPPORT BRIGADE TO DEPLOY

Helena, Mont. –
Approximately 60 Soldiers of the Montana
Army National Guard’s Detachment 1, Bravo Company of the 189th
General Support Aviation Brigade (Nevada) are slated to head to their
mobilization station for deployment.  The Soldiers and six CH-47 Chinook
helicopters are scheduled to depart the Army Aviation Support Facility here on
Wednesday, February 29th at 9 a.m.

The Montana Soldiers will join the remainder of Bravo Company and 189th Brigade,
headquartered in Reno, Nevada, at their mobilization station at Fort Hood,
Texas.   Two months of  final pre-deployment training are required before finally heading to Afghanistan to provide CH-47 Chinook helicopter aviation support in Regional Command-South and Regional Command-East. While in Afghanistan, the battalion
will maintain and fly about a dozen aircraft, with missions mainly consisting of transporting troops and supplies. The public is invited and
encouraged to attend the departure ceremony.
