Trappers Kill Two Wolves Involved in Livestock Kills
Government trappers have killed two of the four wolves believed to be involved in recent livestock depredations on a ranch in southern Ravalli County.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Warden Lou Royce says a female wolf was caught in a trap and euthanized Sunday. Another wolf from the Divide Creek pack was killed earlier.
The kill permits were issued following the death of a calf a few weeks ago.
On the west side of U.S. Highway 93, government trappers are having a more difficult time catching wolves from the Trapper Creek pack suspected in the death of a horse on a ranch about 1½ miles south of Darby.
Royce says the wolves have pulled out of traps or stepped around them.
