Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway says a freight train collided with a semi trailer in Roosevelt County between Bainville and Culbertson Tuesday afternoon causing 40 for its cars to derail along with four locomotives. The semi driver was airlifted from the scene of the crash; none of the train’s crew were seriously injured. The condition of the semi driver is unknown at this time. A BNSF spokesperson says the train did blow its whistle when the semi was spotted. The train was carrying a wide variety of items including diapers and washing machines. The 500 gallons of diesel fuel that spilt from the collision was contained and the track could reopen sometime today (Wednesday).
