The University of Montana Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame and Lifetime Honors Award banquet will be Friday, September 7.

Griz football standout wide receiver Matt Wells will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the event, while retired UM equipment manager Steve Hackney will be the first-ever recipient of the new Grizzly Lifetime Honors Award. This award was created to "pay tribute and give recognition to supporters of Grizzly athletics who are not eligible for the Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame, which includes only athletes and coaches." And Steve is a pretty deserving guy.

"Hack" was on the job as UM equipment manager from 1981 - 2010. He was extremely popular with coaches, athletes and staff during his tenure. And of course Matt Wells is ranked among Griz all-time receiving leaders, putting an awesome exclamation point on the end of his career by scoring Montana's only two touchdowns in their 22-20 national championship win over Marshall in 1995.

This will be a great way to get ready for Grizzly football vs Drake the next day at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. The banquet will be held at the Holiday Inn Missoula Downtown. Social hour begins at 6:30. Dinner's at 7:00. Tickets are $40 each and available at griztix.com or in person at the Adams Center Ticket Office.

TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED BY MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3. TICKETS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR!
