BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — A Three Forks woman who pleaded guilty to embezzling nearly $35,000 from a Belgrade business has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay $16,000 in restitution.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1dKh1so ) 40-year-old Brandie Lee Wick was sentenced Monday after earlier pleading guilty to felony theft for taking money from Big Sky Masonry. She worked for the company from May 2007 through November 2010, when she was fired.

Prosecutors alleged Wick was paid for hours that she didn't work, that she made unauthorized purchases with the business' credit cards, wrote 47 unauthorized checks and received two unauthorized electronic fund transfers.

She will be on probation for 10 years.

Defense attorney Eric Brewer sought a deferred sentence, which would remove the conviction from Wick's record if she successfully finished probation.
