The 6th Annual Chicks n Chaps Women’s Only Rodeo Clinic in Missoula

Howdy, cowgirls! Are you ready to "give cancer the boot?" The 6th annual Chicks n Chaps Women's Only Rodeo Clinic is here, and it's loaded with a bunch of fun rodeo events to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, and according to the "Chicks n Chaps Times," breast cancer is second only to lung cancer in cancer deaths of women.

Chicks n Chaps is a non-profit that began in Missoula in 2008. Their focus is providing support and hope for individuals in local communities that need financial help in their fight against breast cancer. Additionally, their goal is also to increase breast cancer awareness, all while throwing in a positive, fun twist.

Shannone Hart, co-president and founder for Chicks n Chaps, decided that as well as educating women on breast cancer, there needed to be an event which tied in one of Missoula's favorite past times: Rodeo.

It is a “fun” raiser designed to teach “chicks” about the seven events of professional rodeo: saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, and barrel racing.

Who would be teaching you about these seven events, might you ask? How about a one-on-one instruction from a cute cowboy in a pink button-down? Sign me up!

Special guest and local DJ for 107.5 Zoo FM Aaron Traylor will be providing the entertainment for the day, and music you can't help but dance to.

This year's Women's Only Rodeo Clinic will be held at the Missoula Stampede Rodeo at the Western Montana Fairgrounds (map) on Friday, August 9.
