A 13-year-old girl who had been accused of bullying a classmate who later committed suicide says she did nothing wrong. The girl’s remarks came a day after criminal charges against her were dropped.

Katelyn Roman appeared on NBC’s “Today” show with her parents Thursday. She says she did learn from the incident that it is important to stand up to bullying.

The Associated Press does not generally identify juveniles charged with crimes and had not previously identified the girl. But the AP is now naming her because she and her family are speaking publicly about the matter.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd charged Roman and a 14-year-old girl with stalking, saying the two were primarily responsible for bullying Rebecca Sedwick, a 12-year-old who jumped to her death at an abandoned concrete plant in September.
