(Video) Gaming the Republic

I love video games, probably more than most people and yet I have a very hard time asking the people of the United States to pony up their tax dollars to promote games. Since September, Constance Steinkuehler has been working with the Obama administration as a policy analyst. Her job is to formulate the administration's policies regarding games and their use in education. She is, in essence, a Video Game Czar that we are paying for.

The Bizarre Czar Bazaar

I made a mistake on the air yesterday that I would like to clarify. Obama did not appoint Jack Thompson as his video game czar. I was bamboozled by a source referring to a satirical article. I admit to falling for it and though I do feel pretty stupid for not checking into things deeper at the start, there are valid reasons for people believing that Obama would do such a thing. Here's why:

Running (on) the Numbers: How is Obama Doing on His Promise to Halve the Deficit?

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) spoke in front of Congress yesterday to give it's 10 year projection on the outlook of the U.S. Economy. The State of the Union: Three Tactics for the Coming Campaign

I just finished watching the State of the Union Speech and thought I would write a bit about what I heard. Obama employed three tactics in tonight's speech that I think he will continue to press as the campaign moves forward. First of all, he is beginning to try to appeal to the right in an effort to grab votes from the center. Specific examples of this are his opening and closing celebration of the death of Osama bin Laden, his calls for deregulation (milk is not oil was my favorite part of the speech), his push against Chinese trade violations, and his claims of opening up 75% of available offshore oil sources for drilling. The second tactic that he pressed is a more traditional populist appeal that pits the poor against the rich over the issue of "fairness."
