A couple of days of sunshine have given way to a cold front heading into western and northwestern Montana, according to the National Weather Service Office in Missoula,
The National Weather Service is calling for a Winter Weather Advisory starting Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning as a series of strong weather systems will be moving through western Montana.
The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warning this evening for western Montana, and then a Winter Weather Advisory overnight into Tuesday.
Western Montana has for the most part escaped any severe winter weather recently, but that will change this weekend as a very cold and wet arctic front is headed this way and is expected to set up shop in Missoula and western Montana.
Meteorologist Corby Nickerson with the National Weather Service Office in Missoula said he was in awe of the powerful winds that swept over western Montana, especially up on Mt. Sentinel.
The National Weather Service is expecting very warm moist systems to move through western Montana and eastern Idaho this week that may bring an appreciable amount of snow to the mountains and rain to the valleys.
