District Judge Ed McLean issued a written ruling on Wednesday clarifying the denial of several motions following the conviction and sentencing of Markus Kaarma.

Markus Kaarma, the man convicted in the shotgun slaying of a 17 year-old German exchange student who had trespassed in his garage, will spend the next 70 years in Montana State Prison.
