No 4th of July Fireworks show at Southgate Mall this year

It won't be a Fourth of July many Montanans are used to this year, mainly thanks to record high temperatures and dry weather conditions.

Just hours after the county went under an "Extreme" fire danger designation, Missoula County Commissioners voted this morning, June 30, to enact Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, which will be enforced starting Thrusday morning, July 2.

Some fireworks ARE legal within the Missoula city limits, but not many.

State Forester Bob Harrington told KGVO News that the fire season of 2015 could be among the worst ever. unless the area receives some much-needed rain.

With much of Western Montana already facing the threat of high fire danger, many are wondering if county governments will prohibit the sale of fireworks this summer.

Fireworks in Hamilton are back on for the Fourth of July thanks to one local bank.

Earlier this week we found out that the city of Hamilton was going to cancel their fireworks show on the fourth of July due to a shortage of funds. Just yesterday, Farmers State Bank has stepped up and said they would supply the $3,200 so the town fireworks show could continue this year...
