19 hotshot firefighters lost their lives on Sunday after being trapped in a raging wildfire near Yarnell, Arizona, located northwest of Phoenix. The crew was caught as the fire quickly changed direction and they were forced to deploy their portable fire shelters, but perished in the flames.

Red Cross Aid Firefighters and Others During Wildfires

The American Red Cross of Montana responded to the recent grass fires that torched over 16,000 acres on the Blackfeet Reservation near the town of Browning. The fires broke out nearly a week ago. Investigators believe a downed power line and a spark from a chimney caused the two wildfires

Fill The Boot For a Good Cause

Last year the  Missoula Fire Department was able to raise $22,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) with their “Fill the Boot” fundraiser. Fundraising coordinator for the MDA, Kate Kroker says they have had a longstanding relationship with the Missoula Fire Department for 56 years.

Ambrose Saddle Fire 50% Contained

Firefighters have the Ambrose Saddle Fire east of Stevensville fifty percent contained. Approximately sixty five firefighters are assigned to the fire, which grew slightly on Tuesday to fifteen acres.

Ambrose Fire Near Stevensville Burns In Lolo National Forest

Firefighters and two tanker helicopters were dispatched to the Ambrose Saddle Fire about 12 miles east of Stevensville on the Lolo National Forest. The fire was first reported late yesterday afternoon. The fire is burning actively and additional resources are being ordered to suppress the fire.
