2 Dead In Eastern Montana Plane Crash

Authorities say two men from Miles City died when their single-engine plane crashed and burst into flames in eastern Montana.

Rosebud County Sheriff Randy Allies confirmed the two deaths, saying it was two males from Miles City. He said he did not know their ages and declined to release additional details because he had not yet reached the family of one of the deceased.

Plane Crash Victims Were Student, Professor

Authorities say the two Butte men who died in a single-engine plane crash were a Montana State University student and a Montana Tech professor.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus confirmed they were the only people aboard the Piper PA-38 Tomahawk when it crashed Monday morning west of Butte.

Butte-Silver Bow Coroner Lee LeBreche identified the victims as 61-year-old Richard Johnson and student Justin Robbe.

Boeing Carves '747′ In The Skies On Test Flight

Boeing painted the numbers "7-4-7" in the skies from Minnesota to California on the final test flight for its new jumbo jet.

A map on the flight-tracking service FlightAware shows that the plane left the airport in Everett, Wash., and flew over Montana, south to California, and back north working its way across North Dakota and Minnesota, with trips as far south as New Mexico and Oklahoma, to spell out "747."

Washington State Man Dies At Montana Skydiving Event

Officials in northwestern Montana say a 27-year-old Washington state man has died after his parachute failed to open while skydiving.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says the man was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday afternoon.

Flight Restrictions Over Yellowstone Spill Area

Aviation officials have imposed flight restrictions over an Exxon Mobil oil spill into the Yellowstone River.

Aircraft in the area cannot fly below 500 feet.

Men In Montana Fatal Glider Crash Identified

The Flathead County Sheriff's Department says a man who died in a glider crash was a 61-year-old retired pilot from Lakeside.

Douglas Sameit held a Federal Aviation Administration glider instructor certificate.

The crash happened Friday near a home just south of the Ferndale Airfield.

Pilot Killed In Crop Dusting Plane Crash

Blaine County officials say a single-engine crop dusting plane crashed about 50 yards from a north-central Montana farmhouse, killing the pilot.

County Commissioner Vic Miller says the plane crashed at about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday between Turner and Hogeland.
