When you invite Bill Murray to participate in your sporting event, you can probably expect something wacky to happen. Which is why the funnyman is the star every year at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament. Beyond the links, Murray is a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. So he was a natural pick to throw out this season’s first pitch at Wrigley Field.

Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter, nicknamed ‘The Kid’ for the enthusiastic manner in which he played baseball, died Thursday. Carter was 57. He had been diagnosed with malignant brain tumors in May of last year.

The Major League Baseball playoffs are in full swing, and there are a handful of former Missoula Osprey players which are making their mark in the second season for their clubs.

While the end of this year's Missoula Osprey baseball season ended on a sour note, the year that the team had won't soon be forgotten. Voice of the Osprey Ben Catley notes that the O's could have potentially set 14 new club records this year...

Earlier this week, the Pioneer League announced that Hector De La Cruz had been named Manager of the Year, and that Jon Griffin, Raymond Hernandez and Taylor Siemens had made the All-Star team. The Osprey can now put another feather in their cap when it comes to Pioneer League accolades.

The Arizona Diamondbacks' 2nd, 3rd and 4th overall draft picks from this summer will join the Missoula Osprey for their playoff run.

Tomorrow afternoon in Williamsport, Pennsylvania the Big Sky All-Stars from Billings will play for the United States championship.
