BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — The Montana Highway Patrol says a man suspected of a crime in Bozeman apparently shot and killed himself when officers tried to pull him over.

Lt. Col. Butch Huseby says officers had been asked to watch out for a
suspect in an attempted deliberate homicide. Bozeman police Lt. Steve
Crawford tells the Bozeman Daily Chronicle the man was wanted in
connection with a sexual assault involving a handgun Thursday morning.

Huseby says a trooper spotted the vehicle on Interstate 90 near Reed Point at
about 1 p.m., and he, another trooper and a Stillwater County sheriff's
deputy tried to pull him over.

Huseby says the vehicle pulled over, but before the officers could leave their cars the man shot himself.

He was flown to Billings for treatment but died.
