A Colorado man accused of killing his wife 15 years ago in Montana has been extradited to face a charge of deliberate homicide in the case.

Cpl. Brian Peranteaux with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office in Fort Collins, Colorado, said 46-year-old Brian David Laird left the county jail early Thursday.

He's charged in Big Horn County, Montana with the July 31, 1999 death of his 28-year-old wife.

Court documents say Kathryn Laird's badly-bruised body was found floating in a bay below Yellowtail Dam the morning after a bitter argument between the couple.

Laird is represented by J. Thomas Bartleson with the major crimes unit in the Montana Office of the State Public Defender. Bartleson said it would be premature to comment on the case.
