Early Saturday morning, Missoula police were called a a home disturbance, when an intoxicated, uncooperative man assaulted a police officer.

Sergeant Colin Rose provided details of the assault.

"At about 3:09 Saturday morning officers were called to a male-female physical disturbance in the 1500 block of North Russell," Rose said. "A 20 year-old local Missoula resident who was under the influence of alcohol was pretty uncooperative with officers, and when they went to arrest him, he did headbutt one of the officers causing minor injuries. The man was arrested and charged with assault on a peace officer, a felony, partner of family member assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, MIP of alcohol, misdemeanor theft and tampering with a communication device."

Rose said the suspect was taken to the Missoula County Jail and will make an appearance in Missoula Justice Court on Monday.

The officer was seen by a physician and returned to duty.
