I had numerous handfuls of this amazing popcorn at a family friend’s house a few weeks ago. It was quite possibly the best caramel popcorn I’ve ever had. I was pleasantly surprised to learn the recipe was so simple.

Caramel popcorn was one of those things that I thought would be hard to make for some reason, which is why I’ve never attempted to make it before. This recipe proved me wrong. Now I love to make salted caramel popcorn for family movie nights instead of just plain old buttered popcorn.

Super Simple Salted Caramel Popcorn

16 cups popped popcorn

1 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup corn syrup

1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt

Make your popcorn however you like. Set the popcorn aside in a large bowl.

In a saucepan melt butter, sugar, syrup and 1 teaspoon salt on medium heat until it boils. Let it boil for four minutes. Don’t stir it during this time. As soon as the four minutes is up, pour the mix on top of the popcorn and stir until all the popcorn is coated.

Spread popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle the popcorn with the remaining half teaspoon of salt. Bake popcorn at 300 degrees for 30 minutes, being sure to stir every 10 minutes. After pulling the popcorn out of the oven, leave it to cool on the pan before eating.
