President Obama changed his stance on same sex marriage today after citizens in the state of North Carolina voted overwhelmingly to ban the practice, and to go so far as to amend the State Constitution with a permanent ban. After the President's statement, rival Republican Mitt Romney reaffirmed his support that marriage should be between one man and one woman.

Missoula City Councilman Dave Strohmaier, Democratic candidate for the United States House of Representatives,  agreed today with President Obama that same sex couples should be allowed to marry. Strohmaier says he has always supported equal treatment of the sexes under the law, even though Montana law states that legal marriage may only be between one man and one woman. Strohmaier's comments are below.
