Senator Steve Daines commented on the ruling made by a federal appeals court concerning the NSA's telephone data collection program. Daines says these actions by the NSA have been going on for too long.

“Montanans have long known that the federal government’s mass collection of our personal data is an unacceptable overreach of power and today’s court ruling confirms it,” Daines stated.

Daines says that that the actions by the NSA arwe wrong, and that this ruling is just the beginning.

“It’s long past time for this illegal invasion of Montanans’ personal information and assault on our constitutional right to privacy to end. I’ve long fought to dismantle the NSA’s bulk data collection program, and will continue working tirelessly until Montanans’ civil liberties are no longer at risk from big government’s overreach,” said Daines.

The NSA came under scrutiny after a leak was made by Edward Snowden, a former employee in 2013. Last week the House voted in favor of the USA Freedom Act, which would end the bulk of collecting telephone records.
