Senate Bill 423 Or No Reform At All

This legislative session got underway in January with lawmakers considering no fewer than 24 bills dealing with the states medical marijuana industry. Medical marijuana reform was one of the first bills to see action Tuesday morning, as the legislature reconvened from its five-day break. Both the house and senate approved the conference committee’s changes to the reform bill. Supporters say the changes essentially create a ‘grow-your-own” policy, but opponents argue the bill goes too far, making the drug inaccessible to those who need it. Senator Jim Shockley says the number of cards issued has exploded, and the legislature had to do something.
