A southern Idaho man who was shot by a police officer last week in Payette County remains hospitalized. 37-year-old Jamee Lee Wade was listed in critical condition Tuesday at a Boise hospital.

Police say Wade's mother called 911 last Friday to report he was threatening her life. The officer who arrived at the home, Bill Copeland, is now on paid administrative leave as authorities investigate the circumstances that led to him firing at Wade.

Fruitland Police Chief J.D. Huff says the officer appears to have followed proper procedures during the confrontation with the man, though no further details have been released about the shooting, including whether or not Wade was armed.
