The Rural Institute for Veterans Education and Research are hosting a very special event this weekend. Vice President of Education Felipe Vonsydow says it is one folks won’t want to miss.

“We are hosting a feast day on Saturday the 25th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., for all veterans, their families and friends,” said Vonsydow. “We are going to be celebrating like it is thanksgiving. There will be lots of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, the works and pies. It is going to be delicious.”

Vonsydow explains why this event is important for not only veterans, but members of the community as well.

“We are having this event because thanksgiving kicks off the holidays and we understand that the holidays can be tough for some people, veterans especially,” Vonsydow said. “We are trying to focus on the community and really develop a bond between those who do not have family in town and would like to make a tighter bond with the community.”

According to Vonsydow, this event is free of charge and it will take place at RIVER’s office, which is located at 2875 Tina Avenue.
