The change in weather is prompting bears to come out of their dens. Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks has already received several reports of bears venturing into Missoula area neighborhoods looking for food. On Sunday one adult male black bear, found in the rattlesnake district, was captured  and euthanized. FWP biologists report the bear was very persistent in its search for food and attempted to enter a few homes. FWP Information and Education Manager, Vivaca Crowser says for the next eight months, people need to be “bear aware”.

The Missoula City Council adopted garbage rules and companion “bear buffer zones” to address some of these bear temptations.
