Congressman Denny Rehberg formally submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Labor opposing proposed regulations that would undermine the ability of farmers and ranchers to hire young people. While the fair labor standards act already prevents young workers from doing some tasks, the labor department has proposed significant changes that will severely impact the type of work young people are allowed to do on farms and ranches. Rehberg says it doesn't  make sense.

Rehberg says the proposed regulations would limit a young ag worker's ability to gain valuable hands-on experience. Last month, rehberg took the lead on a bipartisan letter with 77 other members of congress successfully securing an extension of the comment period for the new rule.
