A cold front with gusty winds will be heading through Western Montana Wednesday night and into Thursday, which has led the National Weather Service to issue a red-flag warning for the Bitterroot National Forest. Spokesman Tod McKay says firefighters working the Chrandal Creek Fire are preparing for the winds, expanding fire lines.

McKay says fire personnel are making excellent progress in fighting the fire, with over 65 percent containment as of Wednesday. McKay asks those who plan to spend the weekend in the Bitterroot National Forest to use extreme caution with fire, and to make sure all campfires are completely out before you leave your campsite.
