Ravalli county residents will soon be voting on a mill levy request to help fund improvements at the Ravalli County fairgrounds.

"It's a ballot question," said Ravalli County Commissioner Greg Chilcott . "It's going on the ballot in November. The fair commissioner is requesting the citizens to consider five mill levy requests which would equate to about $19.20 on a $300,000 home per year. It'd go towards operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the fairgrounds. We want to give citizens the opportunity to understand and hear the requests, have a public debate, and then make a decision as to whether or not they want to pass or approve this request."

Ravalli county Commissioners voted to put the levy request on the ballot on Monday. The levy would provide permanent funding for the Fairgrounds that would not need to come out of the county’s general fund.
