A very warm, moist system that started in Hawaii has been making its presence felt in Western Montana this weekend with more than a half-inch of rain.

Meteorologist Trent Smith with the National Weather Service Office in Missoula says the rain will slacken Sunday night, but another warm wet system will make its way into the area Tuesday, bringing more rain and unseasonable mild temperatures.

Smith says if the temperatures were a few degrees colder, Missoula and the Bitterroot could have well over six inches of fresh snow on the ground.
