The Missoula County Sheriff's Department has received complaints of suspicous and pushy solicitors in Lolo.

According to Missoula County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone, the incidents were reported on the evening of June 12 and occurred in the 500 block of Tyler Way near Red Fox Road.  Pavalone says residents complained that a couple of individuals selling children's books were acting suspicious.

"Solicitors were seen going back to houses several times throughout the day until they made contact with the residents," Pavalone said. "Once they made contact with the residents they were pretty aggressive:they were asking the residents when their spouses got home, and just being pretty pushy and invasive."

The complaints that did make it to the Sheriff's department came in after the solicitors had left and Sheriff's deputies were not able to confront the salespeople.

"What the Sheriff's office asks, is that if people see suspicious activity like this, or if solicitors are being too aggressive, refuse to leave, or come back to the residence after they've been asked to leave - if you've refused their services - then do not hesitate to give 911 a call," Pavalone said.

According to Pavalone, so far, there is no evidence that anything illegal has been done, but folks are asked to be on the lookout for suspicious activity.
