A wintry blast of strong wind and heavy snow caused numerous trees to fall on buildings in Glacier National Park.

Most of the park was closed Saturday after the storm Friday night.

Snow accumulation on the east side of the park was believed to be 2 feet at St. Mary and 18-20 inches at East Glacier.

At West Glacier, park officials urged visitors to come back another day. Trees fell on some 20 structures in the housing area near park headquarters.

The Missoulian reports a falling tree severely damaged a government vehicle but no injuries were reported.
