Political Exposure

The Senate has approved a bill lawmakers say would help keep politicians from using public resources for political exposure. It would prevent elected officials and agency heads from appearing in public service announcements. Bill Sponsor Senator Ron Arthun of Wilsall says politicians can misuse them.

Opponents say sometimes elected officials make public service announcements more effective and should be allowed to participate. The bill passed its second-reading on a vote of 28 to 21.
